WHO IS OKAN ERSAN

An endless passion for music, for discovery, for people, for the cosmos, for life.
Okan Ersan is a Cypriot jazz-fusion guitarist and composer, celebrated for his fluid legato phrasing, chromatic motion, and polytonal harmonic language. He studied classical guitar at Marmara University in Istanbul before immersing himself in rock, blues, and jazz scenes across Turkey and Cyprus.
He gained international recognition after reaching the finals of the Guitarist of the Year Competition in Birmingham (2003). His debut album To Whom It May Concern (2004) established him as one of Turkey’s pioneering guitar voices, followed by acclaimed projects such as A Reborn Journey (2014) and Nibiru (2019), which explored themes of science, mythology, and cosmic consciousness.
Ersan has shared the stage and collaborated with legendary artists including Al Di Meola, Robben Ford, Chick Corea, John McLaughlin, and Dave Weckl — with Weckl also producing Ersan’s latest single. He is officially endorsed by Yamaha Guitars and is currently a PRS Guitars Artist.
In recent years, Ersan has also collaborated with UNESCO Vienna Club / Earth Charter Austria, presenting works such as Nibiru and new compositions during World Space Week, where his music is paired with scientific and cosmic narratives. These projects highlight his vision of uniting art, science, and culture through sound.
Alongside his international performances and festival appearances, Ersan has mentored students across Cyprus, Turkey, and Europe, conducting workshops in partnership with Yamaha and inspiring the next generation of musicians.
